Werthan Lofts

Werthan Lofts is an extensive adaptive reuse project of the former Werthan Bag Company factory in Historic Germantown. This project recognizes the importance of community, individuality, responsible preservation, and modern design in the heart of Nashville. We worked with Core Development on the design and construction process, which was completed in five phases over eight years. We also worked closely with the Metropolitan Historical Commission and the EPA to ensure the original construction was respected as it was given new life. The importance of the site is highlighted by the use of materials from the industrial palette and the minimal but precise interventions in the existing structures. New structures are decidedly contemporary while remaining respectful of the original. Offices, residential lofts, and restaurants reenergize this vital piece of Nashville’s history.
