Harvard Residence

When designing a home, we take into account many considerations. This space needs to simultaneously meet our client’s functional, aesthetic, and emotional needs. Throughout the process, we intimately work with the client in an explorative process—the client presents us with a design challenge, and we, in turn, present them with a design solution. This home was no exception to the process. A clean and minimal aesthetic heightens the inundation of light into the spaces, allowing shadows to playfully move across the surfaces with the change of the sun. Warm tone woods, pops of color, and a texture-rich palette help provide a feeling of warmth and coziness. The home has a variety of spaces for different moods and moments: A dark-painted bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep, a bright and open living space and a built-in bench at a long dining table for larger yet still intimate gatherings, and a window bench in a quiet corner of the upstairs, perfect for reading on a rainy day. As designers, it brings us great joy and a feeling of success when we see our designs become homes.
