The client presented our team with an interesting design challenge: a stylistically distinct yet complimentary structure detached from the main house to serve as a garage, pool house, and music lounge. The garage and pool (elevated one story above the garage) were existing and offered the constraints of the design. Charcoal-colored bricks reference the construction of the main house, with black steel awnings and detailing added to the main house and the pool house, visually tying the buildings together. Thoughtfully shaped and placed windows frame pleasing views, the most exquisite being the large, custom sliding doors centrally aligned with the pool. Access to a roof deck with a pergola allows for closer access to direct sunlight--a perfect space for sunbathing and grilling--and a separate entry for the bathroom allows wet swimmers to avoid crossing the lounge space.
