Castner-Knott

On the National Register of Historic Places, the Castner-Knott building was built in 1906 as the headquarters and flagship department store for the Castner Knott Dry Goods Company. Originally a freestanding five-story building, it was later combined with a new building constructed in 1911. This lobby renovation seeks to unify the two buildings with Class A lobby space. The design intends to respect the historical nuance of the existing space and honor the rich role that trade and community have played in shaping downtown Nashville while creating a forward-thinking adaptive space.
