Barista Parlor Sylvan Supply

Barista Parlor is a Nashville-grown coffee shop with a distinct identity. Each location is different, and this one is no exception. Positioned on the axis at the end of the Sylvan Supply driveway, the building functions as a jewel box, enticing pedestrians to explore the complex. Though the building is a new construction, the site presented challenges that were turned into opportunities. A necessary space between the one-story retaining wall and the building became an opportunity for openings to highlight the retaining wall's stone construction while introducing diffused natural light. The need for fall protection in the front became a concrete canvas for branding. The cladding is reminiscent of shipping containers, a call-back to the company's commitment to sourcing the best coffee. The cladding wraps into the interior, blurring the understanding of exterior and interior space. A large storefront wall simultaneously brings natural light into the space while acting as a lantern in the evening light. With abundant natural light, the interior can sustain a multitude of plants, bringing a sense of life into the space.
